X's and O's! What fun to play with such simple imagery. Then I thought of
love letters and the symbolic meaning of those x's and o's. These compositions
are very spontaneous and there's no deep or hidden meaning. The painted and
printed fabrics used in these pieces were retrieved from my stash and some
of them are at least ten years old! I save everything! As I worked on the
first one, I started to "see" more, and thus, a series is born!
I think with these pieces that I am moving towards a more minimal compositional
structure in my work. It may take awhile, for my work has been very complex
for many years. I am thinking more and more of very stark "pictures" with
limited color combinations and limited activity. It will be exciting to see
how these thoughts evolve.
